In short: drop an image of a shape above: a dark drawing on white, a transparent PNG or an SVG. The tool follows its outline and builds a cookie cutter: a thin cutting wall with a wider lip to press on. Set the size and wall, then download the STL. It runs in your browser.
How to make a cookie cutter
- Add your shape, or click Try it with an example: a gingerbread figure.
- Set the size of the longest side, in mm.
- Adjust the cutter: its height, the wall thickness and the lip around the top.
- For drawings and photos, adjust the shape threshold until the outline follows your shape. Tick Light shape on a dark background if your shape is light.
- Download the STL and print it lip-down, as it's laid out.
Good shapes for cutters
- Bold, rounded outlines. Dough doesn't fill sharp inside corners or thin necks well.
- No narrow parts. Arms, ears and tails thinner than about 10 mm tend to tear.
- One piece. The cutter follows the largest shape in the image; separate small shapes are ignored.
A simple silhouette, filled in solid, works best. Inner details (eyes, buttons) aren't cut, because they'd trap dough: add them with icing, or press them in with a separate stamp.
Recommended settings
| Setting | Starting point | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Wall thickness | 1 mm | Two to three lines with a 0.4 mm nozzle: cuts cleanly, still sturdy |
| Height | 15 mm | Deeper than rolled dough, comfortable to hold |
| Lip | 3 mm wide, 1.6 mm thick | Spreads the pressure and stiffens the wall |
Hygiene
Even if your filament is sold as food-contact safe, printed parts have tiny gaps between layers that can trap dough and bacteria. Wash the cutter well before and after use, avoid the dishwasher with PLA (heat can warp it), and consider covering the dough with cling film for single uses.

Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded?
No. The shape is traced and the cutter built in your browser.
The outline includes the background. What's wrong?
Your image is probably a light shape on a dark background: tick Light shape on a dark background. Or adjust the shape threshold.
Can I add inner details that press into the dough?
Not with this tool. Make a separate stamp: the SVG to STL tool can extrude a design into a flat stamp.
Which way up do I print it?
Lip-down, just as it's laid out in the file, so the thin wall builds up from the lip with no supports.
